About Me
I am a graduate of the University of Houston with a BBA in Entrepreneurship. I worked for National Oilwell in their sales and marketing department for six years. After receiving my teaching certification is 2004, I taught first and second grade. In 2006, I went to work for Briarwood and have taught fifth, sixth, and seventh grades. This is a special education school for children of all learning needs. My speciality is closing gaps in reading, writing and math. I love working out especially running. I enjoy being outside either in the woods walking or swimming. I love to travel, read, watching football and shop. But my favorite thing to do is spending time with my family and my cats.

Educational Philosophy
My educational philosophy centers on the fact that every child can learn. As a special education teacher, I educate children with varied learning differences. Some have low cognitive abilities where others have average to above average cognitive abilities, but the latter suffer from a learning difference that hinders them from progressing at the same pace as their peers. As I work with these children, they all have special abilities that will lead to a successful life. But, it is up to me to teach them to the best of their abilities and to engage them in curriculum that fosters their abilities. This does not mean I do not have high expectations. When they walk into my classroom, they know they are going to work and they will be challenged. My classroom is student centered and student driven. We are a community where we learn and grow.
As this population grows, you continue to see their abilities grow. Some go on to work at Brookwood where as others go on to repair bikes, teach PE, or become chefs. These children become successful in their own right and become a productive member of society. And in the end, that is all we can ask of the next generation.
